From Tuscan Villas to the Highlands of Skye
Summer 2024 marked an ambitious production tour for VRTU Studios. Over eight weeks we traveled across Europe to 21 cities capturing luxury hotels, fashion editorials, and brand stories in some of the most iconic destinations in the world.
From wine country villas to alpine spa resorts, rooftop pools in Austria to castles in Scotland — this tour was about more than content. It was about building cinematic narratives for luxury brands in real places, with real energy.
Florence & Tuscany
Where it all started
We kicked things off in Florence, staying in a villa tucked deep in the Tuscan countryside. Endless vineyards. Warm golden light. Quiet mornings. Long dinners. The kind of place that forces you to slow down and really see what’s around you.
We spent our first days capturing wine country, stone walls, winding roads, and cinematic lifestyle content that felt straight out of a film.
From there, a quick espresso stop in Milan before heading north.
Munich → Grossarl
First big shoot
After passing through Munich, we landed in the Austrian Alps at Hotel Nesslerhof in Grossarl.
We stayed six nights and honestly didn’t want to leave.
Huge indoor and outdoor spas. Pools with mountain views. Morning shoots, afternoon biking with Bike Sports, sunset sessions, late-night edits. This place became our basecamp — and one of our favorite shoots of the entire tour.
It was pure alpine luxury.
Zillertal
Rooftop pools & jumping off mountains
Next stop: Coolnest Hotel in Zillertal — a stylish, modern hotel with one of the best rooftop pools we’ve seen.
We captured:
• sunset dinners on the roof
• spa lifestyle
• poolside content
• city energy
And then… we jumped off a mountain.
Thanks to Tandem Jump, we paraglided off the Austrian Alps and landed right in the valley in front of the hotel. Unreal.
On our last night, the town was hosting a summer festival — music, locals, drinks, energy — the perfect way to wrap the stay.
Vienna
Fashion inside a palace
Vienna was special.
We shot a fashion editorial at the legendary Imperial Palace Hotel — featuring its famous staircase and working with local fashion house Popp & Kretschmer.
Old-world architecture. Modern styling. Cinematic movement.
One of those shoots where everything just clicks.
Mykonos
Mediterranean reset
After Austria, we flew to Mykonos to shoot for Zuma Hotel and Haute Living Magazine.
We spent a few days decompressing at our villa — capturing relaxed poolside moments, ocean views, late nights, and slow mornings. That perfect in-between moment before jumping back into production mode.
Amsterdam & Copenhagen
City energy
Two cities. Two totally different vibes.
We stayed at W Hotels in Amsterdam and the Moxy Hotel in Copenhagen — capturing lifestyle content, architecture, street movement, and the rhythm of each city.
Both cities instantly became favorites.
Switzerland
Where things got cinematic
Switzerland hit different.
Zurich
We spent a few days in the Technopark area — live music, lake views, city walks, slow nights.
Lucerne
Stopped through on the way to Engelberg — one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Bridges, water, old town energy.
Engelberg
We shot at Kempinski Palace Engelberg — high in the Swiss Alps.
Rooftop pools. Saunas. Massive spa. Monastery visits. Mountain biking. Drone shots over peaks. Absolute dream location.
Frutt Mountain Resort
This place felt like a movie set.
Sitting in the clouds among alpine lakes, we captured:
• the full hotel experience
• cows grazing in the fields
• spa moments
• restaurants/bars
• mountain biking
Remote. Peaceful. Surreal.
Budapest
Architecture & fashion overload
Budapest surprised us in the best way.
We shot at Parisi Udvar Hotel — easily the most beautiful hotel lobby I’ve ever seen. Stained glass. Gold details. Unreal symmetry.
Across the street, we shot another fashion editorial at Matild Palace Hotel:
• lobby
• penthouse
• rooftop
Styled by NU Denmark — everything came together perfectly.
We also captured a full culinary shoot for Spago inside Matild Palace — every course, behind the scenes, and dessert on the rooftop overlooking the river.
Scotland
Edinburgh → Isle of Skye
We landed in Edinburgh and went straight into production mode.
Four days.
Three fashion editorials.
All over the city.
We collaborated with:
• Stewart & Christie
• Treen
• Epitome of Edinburgh
• Circus of Curious
• Colours Agency
• Addicted to Models
Exhausted but riding the high, we drove six hours north to Isle of Skye — our final stop.
We captured a stunning architectural villa sitting directly on a lake. Silent. Remote. Cinematic. The kind of place you don’t want to leave.
One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
Frankfurt
Last night
We drove back to Edinburgh, flew to Frankfurt, and spent one final night before heading home.
Trip over.
Hard drives full.
Stories captured.
Final thoughts
This wasn’t just travel.
It was:
• luxury hotel videography
• boutique resort content
• fashion editorials
• restaurant storytelling
• cultural documentation
VRTU Studios moved across Europe like a pop-up production house — building real stories in real places.
